Thank you for visiting my new blog on Contemporary Japanese Photography. Most enthusiasts of Japanese Photography are well aware of Nobuyoshi Araki, Hiroshi Sugimoto or Naoya Hatakeyama. In this blog however, I am keen to highlight the emergence of a new generation of photographers such as Rika Noguchi, Rinko Kawauchi and Takashi Homma.

There are of course many other great photographers in camera-infested Japan, the examples mentioned here however share similar conceptual and aesthetic concerns. One of my objectives is to research how the dramatic shifts in society following the collapse of the economy have effected photographers and their practice. I am very keen to hear from fellow photography enthusiasts, particularely from Japan.
